Added Information to Blog Below

I just hung up from mom and she said that dad tried to eat a little bit yesterday but threw it up, and is having those same feelings today. She said that he ate part of one saltine cracker a little while ago and so far that is staying down.

Additionally, the doctor did additional blood testing and he came out positive for a Parasite. His doctor said that he was going to meet with an infectious disease doctor and come into dad's room any minute now to talk with them.

Please add to your prayers the parasite.

I just spoke with Bonnie about the nausea. C-Diff and the resulting treatment with Flagyl can be terribly nauseating. But having a little sonething on the stomach like a few bites of cracker can help to alleviate that. Doesn'take sense but from experience, I can tell them it is true.

Bonnie also tells me he has an infection in his bloodstream plus an infection in his urine in addition to the C-Diff. Not unusual with this long a hospitalization. And this much infection can cause the polyneuropathy and polymyopathy to seem to escalate out of control. Once the infections are brought under control, pain relief will follow.

This is a tough place right now for the whole family and we, as their community, need to carry them hourly in our thoughts and prayers. This is too much for two people to carry with grace. Elizabeth and Tim and the extended family is wonderful but we all (near and far) have the power to intervene and ease the situation if we focus out thoughts and prayers on the situation.

We need to pray for the infection to leave his body. We need to pray for nutritional status to improve. We need to focus on pain management and tolerance and with that, good quality sleep. Together we can pull them through this with God's help.
